Playback Theatre enabled an opportunity for people with limited communication to clearly tell everyone about their feelings and experiences. Once you have seen this for yourself you cannot “Unsee” or deny the issues people have had to face in their lives. As a consequence of using Playback Theatre, we have tremendous support and commitment from people who work in services. Witnessing events, means that people work with their hearts as well as their heads to change things for the better. We have used the communication Playback has facilitated to really change things- from Transport provision, to tackling abuse, to understanding the emotions related to living more independently.” – Helen-Toker Lester, Learning Disabilities Partnership Manager, Torbay Council
International Women’s Day Conference – Women and Food
You were all so good, so funny, so moving, so expressive. It was absolutely wonderful and perfect for the day, the theme and the mixture of people who came. I have had lots of people tell me how much they enjoyed your performances both in the studio, which was more intense and intimate despite having a larger audience, and also at the end of the day. I thought you handled a number of quite challenging situations with sensitivity to the individual as well as consideration for the rest of the audience. It seems an amazing feat to me – how on earth do you do both and also entertain, amuse and leap about?

All the Young Carers should have the opportunity to attend such an event. I think one of the biggest outcomes is how the children and young people are able to learn empathy and offer peer support.” Young Carers Lead Torbay

We were lucky enough to have Tarte Noire with us for a moving and powerful morning. Tears , release, reflection and authentic connection.
