Tarte Noire – women’s playback theatre company

Tarte Noire works with women asylum seekers and refugees and with women who have experienced domestic violence and gives public performances addressing issues which affect women’s lives. These performances are open to all women.

Tarte Noire hears how the voices of individual women fit in to the collective experiences of women. Tarte Noire create a place where women speak openly and honestly together and gauge the emotional, social, political and spiritual climate of women’s lives today so women can grasp together important implications of the wider social contexts women still navigate and weather.

Tarte Noire employs a method that enables and nourishes women’s empowerment while nurturing collective strength. Through this spontaneous improvised theatre form we create art and beauty as a way of acknowledging the fullness of our human experience. This work removes feelings of isolation and creates intimacy between people.

Tarte Noire create performances that are dedicated to exploring and affirming the everyday stories and experiences that affect women’s lives.
Every voice is welcome…
